Tesla is quietly edging closer to a feature that could make its cars feel even more like rolling extensions of the iPhone, with evidence mounting that native Apple Car Key support is on the way. Info accurate as of 15 Sep 2020 Moderator comment - additional set follows - Info accurate as of 21 Sep 2020 Tesla Service Location Local Phone... I ended up using the key card to drive home. I then deleted the key from the card, deleted the Tesla App on the phone, restarted the card computer and phone multiple times, reinstated the Tesla App on my phone, now I can't even set up the dang phone key. I tried so the troubleshooting steps I could find, any help would be appreciated.

Help: phone key stopped working and couldn't set up again | Tesla ... The Tesla phone link sometimes works a day or two later, maybe after the Tesla “sleeps”. But it can be forced to work by unpairing the phone Bluetooth link and by deleting the phone key in “Locks”. I have model 3, 2024 with all the current updates. I can work all the options with the Tesla app and get in and out fine, yet when I try to make a call, it says phone not connected.

If your old phone is still functioning, check the iOS settings for the Tesla app and make sure you use the same settings on the new phone. In terms of unlocking the phone needs to be on my or it will not unlock. If I leave it in the house, it will not open. As mentioned in the other thread, you can approximate distance with Bluetooth so it’s possible for the car to know how far away the key is when connected.
I couldn’t say if Tesla do that or not though.
